Universal Academy for the College Bound (UACB) High School launches “Mentoring Engagement Series” UACB and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. to Mentor Milwaukee Area Students

MILWAUKEE, WI. – April 15, 2015, – Universal Academy for the College Bound (UACB) High School is partnering with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.’s Talented Tenth District which represents Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota. The Omega’s host Kappa Phi Chapter is pleased to launch the “Mentoring Engagement Series” at the Public Opening of its 78th Tenth District Meeting & Convention during April 16th-19th at the Crown Plaza Hotel located at 6401 S. 13th Street. The Opening Meeting will convene in the Concorde Ballroom from 6:30 – 8:30.

The “Mentoring Engagement Series” is comprised of workshops that enable adults to mentor male and female students. Workshops will take place at the UACB High School Webster Campus and also in the community beginning April of 2015.

UACB High School Principal, Trina Gandy, Omega Psi Phi’s Tenth District Representative, Hon. Steven G. Watkins and Chairman for Mentoring and Fatherhood Initiatives, Hon. Gregory C. Pittman, agree that mentoring is an engaging activity that inspires young people to lead productive and successful lives. “Our work in Milwaukee with the ‘Mentoring Engagement Series’ is a testament to our commitment to the uplifting of our communities, as well as Omega’s long-standing partnership with President Obama’s Fatherhood & Mentoring Initiative.” said Pittman.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is the first international fraternal organization to be founded on the campus of a historically black college. Omega Psi Phi was founded on November 17, 1911, at Howard University in Washington, D.C. by three Howard University undergraduates and their Faculty advisor. Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance and Uplift were adopted as the Fraternity’s Cardinal Principles.
