Greetings Brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., I write you during a time of crisis and therefore during a time of need. The crisis and need is not for me personally but for the residents of Flint, Michigan. The residents of Flint are suffering from high levels of lead contaminated water. There is and there will remain for the foreseeable future a dire need for safe water; water for drinking; water for cooking; water for bathing; and water for laundry. I am sure you understand the need. I am sure you are well aware. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity chapters and individual Omega men have stepped up to the plate thus far. Thank you my brothers. The Tenth District as an organization is just as committed to helping the residents of Flint, Michigan. We have coordinated with the Brothers of Omicron Rho, and Chapter Basileus, Brother Derrick Britton. The Tenth District is committed to providing one thousand cases of water to the Flint residents. One thousand cases of water will not solve the problem, but it will help a child have a healthy meal. It will help a student quench his thirst after a long day. It will help a baby have a warm, lead free bath. We have partnered with Coca Cola, which owns Dasani Spring Water, in our quest. Each case of water will cost us $4.50, which includes delivery. On February 27, 2016, 7:30 am, the Dasani water we purchase will be delivered to Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, 5283 Clio Road, Flint, Michigan which is pastored by Brother Kim Yarber, former Tenth District Chaplain. The Tenth District will also make a monetary contribution to “Flint Child Health and Development Fund”.
The Tenth District has set up a GoFundMe Account. If you are so inclined to assist the Tenth District in its goal of providing one thousand cases of water to the residents of Flint, Michigan and to provide financial assistance to “Flint Child Health and Development Fund” please click on the following link to contribute to the 10th District GoFundMe Campaign or https://www.gofundme.com/v7n3t5ys.
You can also set aside some time on Saturday, February 27, 2016 between the hours of 7:30am and 10:00am at Mt Hermon Baptist Church, 5283 Clio Road, Flint, Michigan. Coca Cola will handle the logistical aspect of delivering the water.
Tau Kappa Kappa Chapter is hosting its annual State of the Fraternity Luncheon in Southfield, Michigan on February 27, 2016, 12:00pm. If you will assist the Tenth District on February 27th please be prepared to travel to Southfield, Michigan for the Luncheon. Omega men have ALWAYS made themselves available during dire times. I have no doubt we will now.
